A New Age of Counter-Strike Emerges

The DGL Ready.Set.GO Counter-Strike (CS): GO Cup is now drawing to the end of the group stages and the results are showing that a new age of Counter-Strike appears to be emerging.

Let's just focus on two groups at first to illustrate the point. Traditionally the CS bosses, particularly CS 1.6, Bravado is coming third in Group G with C7e at the top and EoF coming in second. Admittedly this will change as Bravado did beat EoF in a game last week and are due to face the retired HpX this week, which will give them an extra point and could squeeze them into the knockout stage. But C7e are currently enjoying all the attention after they beat Bravado rather significantly.

The other focus is on SSG who are topping Group H with two points ahead of xTc. Here we see the CS veterans Damage Control (DC) tying equal at third with sAiNTs at five points each. Those two teams are due to face Sunday but the outcome of that match will only affect the third placer for the group – SSG beat xTc by 2 – 0 in week 2 so even a (probable) win for xTc this week against 2012QQzz will not help them topple SSG from the top spot.

SSG's spot was further solidified in their week 2 match against DC. And look at the map scores: 16 – 4 to SSG on Inferno and then 16 – 6 to SSG on Nuke.

The rest of the groups

Group A is also worth mentioning with Sov`Sovereign at the top by one point ahead of pixelmassakeR – another well known name in the Do Gaming CS leagues of the past. Now check out the rest of the groups:

No, that's not the point Ham

The point is that these types of conclusions can only accurately be arrived at if you know the reason for the results [read: spectating]. I'm sure that this will improve over time as the GOTV comes into effect though.

Gl to all the teams in the playoffs

I know for the ESWC tournament we had to change cl_updaterate to 16 and cl_interp_Ratio 2 to watch the games without lag... So it seems like Valve haven't sorted out the servers completely yet.
