Hearthstone Premier Playoff Gets Started

The Hearthstone Telkom DGL 2014 Winter Leg Premier Playoffs get underway this week, and the groups and players have been revealed for the competition.

The Premier Playoffs are made up of the players that did not do too well in the Winter Leg Premier Division, as well as the First Division group winners. These 18 players have now randomised and put into two groups of nine for the Winter Leg Playoffs, where they fight for a spot in the Telkom Do Gaming Online Championships (DGOC) later this year.

Let’s take a look at the groups:

The top four players in each group come the end of the Playoffs will not only be promoted to the Premier Division for the next Leg, but also secure themselves a spot in the DGOC.

The Hearthstone Playoffs are not best-of-one’s like most of the DGL playoffs, but will rather take the best-of-three format to achieve the fairest result.

The remaining five players from each group will drop down to the First Division, but still have a chance to qualify for the DGOC in the Online Final Playoffs, which is made up of the qualifier players who didn’t make the cut for promotion. These players will be split into four groups, with only the winner of each group making it through to the final.

With Curse of Naxxramas released we could see some interesting changes in the deck composition of players in the tournament, so it will be interesting to see what happens in the Hearthstone league over the next couple of weeks as players begin to realise the power of the newly released cards.
