The Battlefield 4 (BF4) 8v8 Telkom DGL 2014 Winter Leg Breakthrough Playoffs have started, with teams geared up to get themselves a spot in First Division for future legs.
The Breakthrough Playoffs are made up of the bottom teams from First Division and the top teams from the Open Division, with 12 teams entering the fray in total. These 12 teams have been split up into two groups of six, and will play a round robin from there.
Unlike some of the other playoffs, the BF4 playoffs take on a best-of-three format for its matches, so things like win percentage may make all the difference in the later stages of the competition.
The top four from each group will advance into First Division for the Winter Leg, but it will only be the top team from each group that gets themselves a shot at the Do Gaming Championship (DGC) Playoffs.
The DGC Playoffs take the winners from the Premier Playoff and Breakthrough Playoff as well as some teams from the First Division and puts those ten teams in a fight for just two spots at the Telkom DGC later this year.
Since all the matches are pick-n-play, teams are asked to be proactive in organising their matches, so as to avoid conflict towards the later part of the leg. The Winter Leg Breakthrough Playoffs officially started two days ago, and teams have until 24 August to play all the necessary matches.
